The tumultuous change we've seen ripple across the Middle East and North Africa this past year was set off by a series of activists protesting dictatorship by setting themselves on fire.
At least 25 people burned themselves. It went beyond the level of drawing media attention. By twenty, it was a non-story! Tens of thousands cheered the self-immolators for their bravery. Let's stop and think for a second. Rather than cheering their burning of flesh, isn't the more humane thing to remind people of the many alternatives?!
